Heat the fitting material in boiling hot water and add it to the back of the tooth. Fitting material sticks to the back of the tooth. Step 3: Put in Place! Removal: When you are ready to remove the tooth, pour some boiling water onto the corner of a washcloth. Pinch the heated washcloth around your temporary tooth until the fitting material softens and you can easily wiggle the tooth out. This may take a couple tries and a few minutes.
